How does counselling help?
Counselling or therapy helps people cope and understand any number of issues that we as individuals experience. These issues range from reactive problems (bullying, stress, grief, anxiety, mild depression) to more significant issues (depression, anxiety and panic disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, marital or relationship breakdown, abuse and trauma).
Your therapist will work with you to define and understand the issue or problem and to develop new strategies and thinking styles to change patterns of behaviour and relationships. The rapport you established with your therapist will aim to provide you with a safe and supportive environment that allows you to open up and explore who you are, where you have come from and to practice and learn a new way of relating to yourself and those around you.
