Kids in Mind
Most times a child’s challenging behaviours are simply testing boundaries, but what if there were some other reason? Would you know the difference?

Parenting, and life, has become more complex and the number of children with challenging behaviours is increasing.In response, Bayside Medicare Local is offering Kids in Mind.

If you have concerns, Kids in Mind provides short-term assessment and counselling support for children up to 12 years of age and their families.

Cost
All sessions are provided free of charge. Kids in Mind is part of the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) program, funded by the Australian Government.

PLEASE NOTE: The correct paperwork must be completed, processed and received before the sessions commence.

 

Eligibility

Parents must have a Healthcare Card.

Children up to 12 years of age who are experiencing, or at risk of developing, a mental, behavioural or emotional disorder are eligible for Kids in Mind.

Symptoms may include aggression, hyperactivity, anxiety, fears, phobias, or depression.

Children are referred to Kids in Mind only with their parent’s or guardian’s consent.

Children do not need to have a diagnosed mental, behavioural or emotional disorder to access Kids in Mind.

ATAPS – Requires a GP referral.
Eligibility
ATAPS is a similar program available only to financially disadvantaged clients. There is a general tier (depression and anxiety) and a second tier for clients including issues such as those at risk (suicidality/self harm), experiencing post-natal depression or homelessness.

Cost
